Marc David Pinate is a poet, playwright, actor, organizer, and activist. Marc is currently working on his Masters in Theater Arts degree at San Jose State University and is also the Director of Literary Programs at MACLA/San Jose Center for Latino Arts. Two years ago, he started the first Latino-based poetry and music open-mic series in San Jose called, Lunadas. He is also the founder and artistic director of Grito Serpentino, a spoken word and music ensemble. (Interview conducted in 2000).
